Bernie and Joan Lenehan raised three sons on the Gold Coast, Australia. Growing up in the golden era of music — the late '60s and '70s — Michael, Martin, and I were captivated by sound. Music wasn't just background noise; it was a passion. Michael and I even built our first pair of loudspeakers with the help of our carpenter father. Of course, Mike wanted to do it his way — and so it began.

Mike became the designer and builder, while I handled the calculations using Thiele-Small parameters — straight from the original papers, long before software tools existed. I joined the public service in 1979 for a 40-year career. Mike continued his audio journey part-time, until founding Lenehan Audio in 1995.

From a humble converted garage in Nerang to a dedicated factory in Ashmore, Lenehan Audio became known for exceptional loudspeakers — including the acclaimed ML1, ML2 stand mounts, and ML5 floorstanders. His designs were used in recording studios and living rooms around the world. As his reputation grew, so did the loyal following.

Fast forward to today: Lenehan Brothers is the next chapter — a new business entity launched in 2025 to bring Mike’s latest creation to life: The System 1 standmount speaker. More models, including floorstanders, are already in the pipeline.
Meanwhile, Lenehan Audio is still going strong under the stewardship of Mike’s son, Andrew. While their focus has shifted to cutting-edge audio accessories — including Curious Cables, FoilFlex cables, and anti-resonance toppers — the Lenehan dedication to sonic purity remains unchanged.

Now, Martin (our youngest brother and lifelong audiophile) and I are steering Lenehan Brothers — a direct-to-market, no-compromise audio company focused on delivering the finest in high-end loudspeaker design. We’re proud of our family legacy — and even prouder to be sharing the next chapter with you.
